Not Just Any Cake...Frosted Fantasies

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price for your cakes?

Wedding and groom's cakes start at $3.75/serving for butter cream and $4.75/serving for fondant.  I always try to do every cake in butter cream when possible, though some designs require the cake to be covered in fondant.  The final price per serving is determined on the complexity of design.

Party cakes are priced individually according to size and design.

Please remember what may seem like a simple cake to you, may actually be detailed in the work it takes to complete it.  Please feel free to email me at with any pictures of cakes you would like to get pricing on.

Do you hold tastings and is there a fee?

I do hold tasting for weddings by appointment.  There is no fee for wedding tastings.  Unfortunately, due to time I do not hold tastings for party cakes.  If you are an out of town bride who is not visiting NOLA before your wedding and you want to sample some cakes and fillings, I am able to ship samples through USPS overnight.  I do not charge for the samples but I do have to charge for packing and shipping charges.  Packing charges are $20 and shipping is determined according to distance by USPS.  In order to ship samples, I must have a credit card on file that will be charged once the shipping charges are calculated at the post office.  Shipping charges are typically between $30-60.

Do you deliver?

I do deliver all wedding and groom's cakes for a fee.  I do not offer deliveries for parties unless it is an exceptionally large party or a cake that must be set up on site.  I construct each party cake to be transported by the client.  You should provide a method of transportation conducive to transporting a cake.  Larger cakes will need a van or SUV.  Smaller cakes can be placed on the floorboard of a car.  CAR SEATS ARE NOT FLAT and should not be used for transporting cakes.  Smaller cakes can be held in laps, but larger cakes are heavy and should sit flat on a floor.

Do you require a deposit for booking?

Yes there is a 50% deposit required to hold your date.  The cancellation policy for wedding and groom's cakes is 90 days prior to your event and for party cakes is 30 days prior to your event.  No refunds will be issued after those times.  Your date is not confirmed or booked unless you have paid your deposit.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Credit/Debit cards, check, cash.  I do not accept paypal.

What are your hours of operation?

I have no set hours of operation.  I use a licensed, rented kitchen space for all cakes.  I am in the kitchen only during production.  If you need to meet with me to design your cake, all consultations are done by appointment and are held in my home nearby my kitchen.  Most often, party cake orders can be completed through phone calls, emails, and text messages.  I do not take cake orders for Mondays-Wednesdays.  I normally hold cake tastings on Sunday afternoons depending on the weekend's schedule and orders, and then on Monday and/or Tuesday.  I can occasionally work out a Wednesday appointment, but Thursday-Saturday are nearly impossible for me to meet with clients due to production.  I do offer cake pick ups on Sunday.  I request for all cakes to be picked up by noon on Sunday unless special circumstances do not allow.

What flavors do you offer?

Cake flavors: Almond, vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, hazelnut, chocolate hazelnut, mocha, chocolate/vanilla marble, Italian Wedding cake (a vanilla cake with coconut and pecans), lemon, lime, banana, carrot, and spice.

Cake fillings/icings (all butter creams): Almond, vanilla, chocolate, raspberry, strawberry, pineapple, piña colada, lemon, peach, hazelnut, chocolate hazelnut, mocha, amaretto, irish cream, white russian, cookie dough, salted caramel, white chocolate, cookies and cream, cream cheese, strawberry cream cheese, raspberry cream cheese, pistachio cream cheese; vanilla greek yogurt, coconut, peanut butter, and peanut butter cream cheese. I can also do dark chocolate ganache filling.  Fresh seasonal fruit/berries makes a wonderful pairing with cream cheese, vanilla, almond, white chocolate, or Greek yogurt fillings.

You are welcome to pick more than one flavor if you are doing a tiered cake.  There is an extra fee for ganache and fresh fruit fillings.

Frosted Fantasies uses a Swiss Merengue butter cream.  It lends itself wonderfully to adding a variety of flavors.  I am always open to trying or developing new cake or filling options.  Have some thing you love but don't see it on my list...ask me!

Can you ship cakes?

Unfortunately I am not able to ship decorated cakes.  However, if you just need a cake to celebrate an anniversary or a birthday and just want that yummy Frosted Fantasies taste, I am able to ship small, undecorated cakes.  Client is responsible for all packing and shipping fees.

How far in advance should I place my order?

This question has been asked for years and the only true answer is "as soon as you know your date".  During wedding season (March-May and Mid September-November) I can book up several months in advance and reserve a specific amount of spots for wedding orders.  I will only take a limited amount of party orders for these months very far in advance.  I do recommend you place party orders no less than 6-8 weeks in advance, though during slower months, I can often fit them in less time.  Wedding orders I recommend being placed no later than 3-6 months in advance, but some weekends can fill up 6-12 months in advance.  I cannot urge you enough to be an early planner if you can.  Because each cake is literally created by me, I have to greatly limit the amount of work I am able to take on.  Some weekends may be filled by 1 or 2 orders.  I do all I can to accommodate everyone I can, but there are limits to what I can do if I want each cake going out with the love they deserve.  I want you to love your cake, which means, I have to love it first...Loving them takes time. The larger/more detailed it is, the more love it needs.

Do you work from your house?

No. I pay rent in a board of health inspected, licensed kitchen.  I am fortunate enough to work with the great guys over at A&W catering.  We are conveniently located not far off the expressway in old Gretna.  Coincidentally, if your party requires catering, consider them for your needs!  You can grab your food and your cake all in one stop!  You can find them here: (Best Chicken Salad ever!)

How soon should I expect to hear from you and what's the best way to contact you?

Normally I get to messages and emails  on Tuesday and Wednesday.  This includes text messages as well.  I would love to be able to answer every phone call, text message, Facebook message, and email as soon as I get them, but if I answered each one as they came in, I simply would never get anything done.  I have found it just easiest for me to inform everyone of the days that you will hear from me.  Please understand that when in production, it is a huge distraction to discuss design and pricing when I'm creating a beauty.  I do not want to be distracted when I am creating your beauty, so I ask for patience when I'm creating someone else's.  I answer requests for cakes in the order they come in.

Truly the best way to contact me is through email.  Most people have pictures to accompany requests.  When emailing, please send your name, the date you are looking for, how many guests are expected, and any pictures you want me to use for design inspiration.  This could include invitations, dresses/outfits, pictures of cakes you've seen and like, and party supplies/decorations.  This will enable me to get the most information I can to you as quickly as possible. I don't mind text messaging, but it can be overwhelming with no way to organize them properly, so email is great, if possible.

I arrange a pick up time for each cake.  I need the time to be pretty specific, but I  am very flexible about pick up times.  I consider these pick up as appointments.  There are several reasons for why I schedule pick up times.  One is because I often need to finish final details in the minutes before you get your cake.  Many items are dried and cannot go into a fridge.  Some cakes get stacked not long before they leave, and because my fillings and icings are made with real butter, stacked cakes should be moved cold.  It makes for a very stable and easily transportable cake.  This means that if I remove your cake to finish it and then it sits out for an hour, it will get soft and may not transport as well.  I cannot guarantee a cake that is picked up late and moved.

Often I have to run out and grab last minute supplies.  I will take advantage of a window between pick ups, but when pick ups don't arrive in a timely manner, I can lose the opportunity to take care of something I need to.

Finally, I am a mother of 3 and when all cakes are complete, I try to spend some time with them.  Late pick ups very often impede on the already limited time I have with them.  My time is very precious.  Therefore it has become necessary to instill a late pick up fee.  If you are running more than 10 minutes late for our pick up appointment,  please let me know within an hour before your time. It may mean we have to set up a different time to pick up.  There will be a $25 late pick up fee after 15 minutes and $50 after 30 minutes.
